SEA’s Dr. Kara Lavender Law to testify on Capitol Hill

Dr. Kara Lavender Law, SEA Research Professor of Oceanography, will testify about ocean plastics pollution before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works on Wednesday, Sept. 26th, beginning at 10 am. The purpose of the hearing is to examine how to reduce the impact of marine debris on the environment, wildlife, and human health. SEA President Peg Brandon Named as Aspen Fellow

Congratulations to SEA President Peg Brandon, who has been selected as an Arthur Vining Davis Foundations’ Aspen Fellow for the 2018 Aspen Ideas Festival to be held June 24-27. According to a release by the Aspen Institute, the Fellows were selected from a competitive field of nominees of national leaders with diverse backgrounds and who represent the entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity and leadership qualities of Arthur Vining Davis, the CEO of the Alcoa Corporation from 1907 - 1948. Sea Education Association is 2016 NSB Public Service awardee. The National Science Board (NSB) has named Sea Education Association (SEA) as the recipient of its 2016 Public Service Award.
